What is English?
English is the universal language of the world, everyone wants to be able to speak this language so that we may all learn to communicate with one another. Learning this language is vital to our humanity. Being able to reflect in how we developed and thrived towards our society in how we function now. The history of English can be read as a story in which is passed down through many generations and through many inspirations through other languages to ultimately create this universally acceptable dialect. The development of the English language has repeatedly found itself through the process from Indo-European English through Old English, Middle English, Early Modern English, Later Modern English, and finally English today. English has been through a process of adaptability and absorb ideas and words from other cultures to ultimately create one big culture.
How English Relates to You!
Most of the time, students tend to question the importance of school and how it will benefit them in the future. Honestly, it is a very good question. The real question is, "How will this apply to me in the real world?" Often times, teachers forget the to teach the importance of their subject in relation to the students. Although it may seem obvious that learning the English Language is crucial to be able attain a job or have the ability to reach higher degrees, but we still tend to question what's the point? The point is that English is one of the language that unites different people from different cultures so that we may learn to be in communication with one another. Learning English is not only learning how to be literate, but how to use these skills and apply them to future skills that will be needed in building relationships with people. One of the main things I want to stress on is the importance of relationship. How do people cultivate relationships if they do not know how to communicate? They don't. This is why understanding the importance of English or any language is vital into understanding one another.
